The FDA has approved Acetaminophen as safe for over the counter use and is the most commonly used pain & fever reducer in the USA (Stone, JAMA 2002).

29 billion units per year to 23% of the adult population, half of which is over the counter.

Drugs with Acetaminophen in them: Tylenol, Alka Setzer Plus Cold & Sinus, Dayquil, Excedrin, Motrin, Robitussin Cold & Cough, Vicks 44, Nyquil Cold & Flu..

A study was published with the following parameters:

-13-14 year old children, different populations worldwide (322,959 adolescents from 50 countries)

-Acetaminophen use in the past 12 months was associated with a significant dependant risk of current asthma symptoms, eczema and rhinoconjunctivitis (allergies)

-Acetaminophen use during infancy was associated with an increased risk of asthma symptoms in 6-7 yr olds

-43% increase for asthma symptoms

33% increase for allergy symptoms

32% increase for eczema symptoms

Ask yourself. Which one of our 6 essential choices do I need to change in order for these symptoms of pain, fever, allergies, asthma, eczema to not be necessary.

I would take a look at each and every one: Eat, Drink, Breathe, Rest, Exercise, Think.

1. Take Charge Of Your Diet:

The leading cause of death in the United States is heart disease. A whopping 26% of all deaths. The next is cancer. Scientific studies tell us that to increase all forms of vegetables and fruits will increase our natural immunity, physiology towards health and alkalization.

2. Engage Your Body

Physical activity promotes a healthy, lean, muscular body and studies have now proven that regular exercise also has a causal role on how long and well we can live! Qi Sun & collegues from Harvard School of Public Health looked at data from 13,535 participants where female nurses reported physcial activity level. The team found that women who lived to 70 (10 + years after the study began) had higher levels of physical activity and were less likely to have chronic diseases- heart, physical, cognitive or mental imparements. So find some activity you enjoy and just do it!

3. Decrease Inflammation

Acute inflammation is a protective mechanism of the body. Chronic inflammation is a stuck system which leads to the top 60+ diseases in the United States. The #1 cause of acidosis and related inflammation is toxic negative thinking, the #2 cause is acidic eating. Abdominal Breathing, EmPower March, Journaling, Forgiveness, other forms of meditative activities (yoga, praying, singing, etc.) all have profound effects on the brain, body-mind connection, neurology and hormones which will shut down the inflammatory cascade.

4. Brain Plasticity

Science now tells us that when we choose different ways of thinking and behaving our brain literally rewires (disconnects from the old pattern). Studies at Brandeis University in Massachusets showed increasing mental activity (reading, writing, cross-word puzzles etc) whether an individual has a higher or lower education, increased memory tests.

5. Improve Your Intimate Relationships

We are relational beings and the deeper we grow together the healthier we feel! In a survey of 3,000 men and women ages 57 to 85 years, researchers at the University of Chicago learned that seniors who maintained strong/functioning sexual and intimate relationships generally have better health and well being!

So in the words of B.E.S.T. founder and developer Dr. MT Morter Jr. Love them more, expect nothing in return and health, happiness and success is sure to follow!

We’re all familiar with multiple studies that demonstrate how fish or fish oil, as a regular part of our diet, can reduce the chance of dying from heart disease by one third. Other research studies have linked fish consumption to lowered levels of strokes, depression, Alzheimer’s and many other chronic conditions.

Most recently a December 2009 study reported that consumption of long chain omega 3 fatty acids found primarily in fish and seafood may help prevent colon & rectal cancer.

There are lists of acceptable, endangered and possibly polluted fish. Here is a short list:

OK

Arctic Char Mackerel Sardines

Barramundi Mullett Squid

Pacific Halibut Muscles Trout

Herring Oysters Blue Whiting

Jelly Fish Pollock Haddock

Octopus Sabel Fish Rock Fish

Snapper Stripped Bass

Endangered List

Bluefin Tuna Grouper Tile Fish

Chilean Sea Bass Atlantic Halibut Atlantic Sole

Atlantic Cod Monk Fish Dog Fish

Orange Roughy Flounder Shark

Skate

Sometimes, Depends ( may contain contaminants or involve damage to environment by fishing/farming)

Abalone- if farmed, not poached

Anchovy- best bet from canary in Bay of Biscay

Catfish- best if channel catfish, can be farmed (and hormones added)

Clams- may contian contaminants, check locally

Crabs- again bottom feeder and can be overfished

Lobster- bottom feeder, (toxic contaminants)

Mahi Mahi- Opah, a species of Mahi Mahi can have mercury contaminant

Salmon- When farmed is fed estrogen derivatives to fatten. Organic and wild caught are more favorable to industrial raised

Shrimp- if farmed can have high antibiotic levels

Swordfish- can have very high levels of mercury

Tilapia- raised in Asia, which can be treated with antibiotics, pesticides, carbon monoxide and methyl testosterone

Tuna- canned Albacore can have high levels of mercury, Light tuna is a safer choice

This is just a short list. What we need to understand is that ANY drug does 3 basic things:

A) speed up a body function

B) slow down a body function

C) shut down/stop a body function

The logical question is what am I currently choosing in my essential habits, and what have I been chronically choosing which is giving me negative feedback (symptoms). Address the habit and choice and the bodies response to the choice will diminish when it is no longer a necessity. If not, drugs and the vitamin/nutrient depletion will continue the downward spiral of symptoms, dis-ease, disease and death. While all the while never truly learning the lesson of self-empowerment and stewardship of choice.

It is estimated that men loose up to 2 % of their testosterone, the libido producing hormone, every year past 40 and women also experience changes in estrogen and testosterone as they approach menopause. So what’s the answer? Who wants to have the side effects of Viagra, (sudden vision loss, stroke, 4 hr erection, etc.) which does nothing for libido anyway?

Studies now show when the testosterone pre-curser DHEA (an adrenal hormone pre-curser) drops so does testosterone and libido. What researchers are not telling you is that when you chronically skip meals, eat junk food, take medication, and stress out – our bodies steal DHEA and Pregnezone to make cortisol (a stress hormone) and not make anabolic sex hormones.

Again, if we continue to choose unhealthy habits (see our 6 essentials) our bodies will do the best they can to survive, and that survival response many times is an adaptation, and not optimal health. In fact the way we view disease is as an effect of our bodies adapting perfectly to the choices we make!

So you want a better libido? Here’s a hint

1. Eat more vegetables, fruits, nuts and omega 3 fatty acids (cholesterol makes sex hormone)

2. Cut out junk food & drink, sugar, etc

3. Eat regular meals – no skipping – this stress triggers the need for cortisol (pregnenolone steal and added belly fat)

4. Every time you get a negative thought or emotion – practice belly breathing and EmPower March

5. Consider adrenal supplement support – i.e. Adrenergy, Alkadrenergy

6. Herbal supplements can greatly enhance Adrenal support – Licorice, Reumania, Eletherol (Siberian Ginseng), Ashwaganda, Korean Ginseng, Rhodiola

7. Exercise 30 min. 3x a week for beginners and increase accordingly as fitness level improves.

We check routinely at exams and re-exams for these and other nutritional supplements.

Here are the facts:

Non-Mechanical (not from trauma) of frozen shoulder

- 2 to 4 times higher in Diabetes than in general population

- common in Type I/II Diabetes, increasing with age and duration of Diabetes

- the prevalence of Diabetes in clients with frozen shoulder is 76%

Possible causes of the frozen shoulder are poor circulation, inflammation and collagen repair problems.

In our practice we’ve had many cases of traumatic & non traumatic frozen shoulder, the common denominator was sub-conscious unresolved emotional stress and poor diet. As these issues are resolved, shoulder physiology improves and heals.

The aging process described by Deshaun Hammer in the 1950′s are manifesting at earlier ages. Metabolic Syndrome – high blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, cancer and heart disease have drastically increased in the last 20 years. Many observational studies support the theory that these ill effects are exerted by free radicals upon the cell – lipid membrane, DNA and other protein structures which form the underlying basis for degenerative disease. Free radical damage creates inflammation which further pushes the cascading effects of disease.

The logical conclusion is what creates free radical damage? Here’s a short list of stimuli that turn on pro-inflammatory genes.

1. High glycemic index foods that create insulin secretion: once activated in the gut, immune cells crave sugar, use up serotonin, creating a serotonin deficiency in the brain which results in sugar blues/ “crashes” and more craving of sugar.

2. Chronic and acute stressful fight or flight thinking activates these same immune supporting cells in the gut and cortisol an anti-inflammatory hormone begins to act like insulin, creating blood sugar imbalances. When cortisol secretion becomes chronic, receptor sites on cells become cortisol resistant: more uncontrolled inflammation.

3. Skipping meals creates cortisol release (see above)

4. Excess athletic training at high heart rates creates cortisol imbalance (see above) , inflammation and many other health issues.

5. Chronic activation (repetitive) of the innate immunity appears to be the underlying basis of a wide host of degenerative diseases: high blood pressure, type II diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, all inflammatory conditions (arthritis, colitis, sinusitis, thyroiditis…anything followed by “itis”), auto-immune (shogrens syndrome, lupus, SLE) and many more..

Research shows that in some instances pathogens (disease causing microbes) or industrial pollutants can be present. However in the majority of cases no specific exposure or pathogen can be found. We know this as B.E.S.T. practitioners too well. The key to understanding chronic immune activation is current, recent and distant unresolved emotional experiences. Some which can be remembered and others which can not be consciously recalled, yet nevertheless act as a constant autopilot for inappropriate immune physiology. Once the experience is balanced and the person learns not to resist or attempt to control life and embrace it as it is, the mind and the body become more appropriate, no longer responding in fight/flight and true healing becomes a natural by product of normal homeostasis.

Water is a key element of being healthy. It’s one of our 6 Essential Choices. Here’s a short list of why you need more water.

Acid – Alkaline Balance

As we get more dehydrated the body becomes more acidic- slowing enzyme reactions and disrupting normal biochemistry. This gets compounded when the excretory organs like the liver, kidneys and lymphatic tissue do not have enough liquid to properly do their jobs. As acid goes up inflammatory conditions follow. Fungal overgrowth can also occur.

Aging

As we age, cell volume can go down. This can greatly be accelerated by poor hydration. Maintaining proper intra and extra cellular fluid balance can also get thrown off.

Joints & Spine

Dehydration of the cartilage and joints leads to brittleness, inflammation and predisposition to damage. As dehydration increases, toxins that are external & internal in nature can effect joint health and deposit and create gout/arthritis…etc.

Kidneys & Bladder

As we are exposed to many environmental toxins and internally produced toxins, changes in hydration lead to pH changes (acidity) which can lead to viral, bacterial, fungal overgrowth and irritation of the mucous membrane of the kidney. Excess protein leads to acidosis and as a compository buffering adaptation, ammonia is excreted causing burning in the urine. Hydration greatly aids the eliminatory systems.

Cell Wall

When we are chronically dehydrated the body puts extra cholesterol in the cell wall to prevent water loss, this overproduction, though helpful to the cell wall, introduces too much cholesterol into the blood stream.

Skin

Dehydration leads to dry, flaky, non-elastic skin. As we become more and more dehydrated our sweat becomes more concentrated and toxic which can lead to inflammation and skin irritation.

Weight Management

The weight and thirst centers in the brain are closely linked. Feelings of thirst can be confused with hunger because eating can relieve thirst and thirst induced fatigue is often misinterpreted as a lack of fuel (I want sugar!). Both can cause overeating and weight gain. Chronic dehydration also leads to excess fat as a means of sequestering poisons that can not be safely eliminated.

Lungs

The moist mucous membranes of the lungs are protective in nature. In chronic dehydration dryness leads to vulnerability of attack from pathogens, dust, pollen, etc..

Digestion

Drinking too much water at once can dilute digestive fluids, leading to indigestion. Dehydration leads to diminished digestive capacity and fluids. The average adult produces 7 liters per day of digestive fluid. Mucous produced in the stomach protects the stomach lining from hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes. Dehydration can diminish protective mucous leading to stomach ulcers.

Enzymes & Exercise

Water is essential for enzymatic activity, energy production and metabolism. Dehydration can slow this process resulting in the sensation of fatigue.

Liver & Blood Pressure

Chronic dehydration leads to a more viscous (thicker) blood and a concentration of blood vessels. To compensate for “sludge in the blood” the body must increase blood pressure to push the blood through the veins.

Colon Health

The bowels extract fluid from the stools. Chronic Dehydration leads to a lack of fluids in the stools and hardened stools leads to constipation and body wide toxicity and inflammation.

To keep your body properly hydrated you need to be drinking a minimum of 1/2 gallon of water throughout the day. I personally recommend a product called Green20. This product is a powdered mixture of Chlorophyll, Fulvic Minerals, Chlorophyllins, Resveratrol, Potassium, Stevia and comes in a Lemon or Spearmint flavor. Green20 is a natural detoxifier, its alkaline pH-balanced and rich in chlorophyllins which come from the leaves of plants. You can find this product in our online store at www.desertdove.com or call Liv International and place an order through customer service using distributor # 13088.

Whether you have seasonal allergic symptoms, perennial (year round), nasal, respiratory symptoms, asthma or even skin conditions we need to understand our immune system is overreacting. When our nervous system/mind perceives a threat (real like a vicious dog/fear or unreal like they don’t love me and I’m empty & worthless/fear) the immune system mounts a response with antibodies, inflammatory mediators (such as histamine, heparin& kinins). The result is vasodialation in the nostrils and mucous production. Other inflammatory responses will constrict the bronchi and make it difficult to breathe. There are many other responses, which each time they occur, make it quicker, more frequent and intense the next time all at the expense of your bodies health & alkaline reserve.

Some possible causes are early antibiotic use, being fed solid foods too early, mothers health during pregnancy, environmental factors (smoking, pollutants, chemicals in air/water/food) and nursing or not nursing.

What can you start doing to improve allergies today? Immediately start to reduce dairy, sugar, milk products (chocolate). Many individuals are highly sensitized to dyes, preservatives and gluten in wheat products. Secondly, start to cleanse your body. A liver cleanse 1-2 times a year along with detox footbaths serves to clean up our internal environment and free our body’s natural filters to regenerate.

Omega 3 fatty acids and green produce have naturally occurring anti-inflammatory properties. I’ve used Alka Green, Trace Minerals and Green20 for years to calm down inflammation. Digestive aids will also improve assimilation and breakdown of food which can, when properly digested, begin the inflammatory process.

Lastly and most importantly take a look at all the habits, belief systems and perceptions in your life where you get defensive, take things personally and make assumptions, rationalizations, excuses and justifications. These are all by-products of the ego-false self, narcissistic tendencies that truly make it “all about me”.

1. Between 1997-2002 there was a doubling of peanut allergies among children.

2. One out of seventeen children under 3 yrs old had a food allergy.

3. According to the CDC there was a 265% increase in hospitalization related to food allergies.

4. Kraft and Monsanto have actually funded food allergy non-profit studies, perhaps a conflict of interest? (From the book ” Unhealthy Truth” by Robyn O’Brien)

5. A food sensitivity is when your body perceives or reacts to a protein/food as a threat. The immune response is inflammation in the gut, blood, hormones and even the brain.

6. According to the Wall Street Journal milk is the top allergen.

7. Bovine growth hormone, which is injected into the cow to increase size, to increase profits, began in 1994. Around the time of spikes in allergies to milk.

8. Canada, European Nations, Japan, Australia and New Zealand do not allow RB6H into their milk cheese.

9. 1996 Medical Journal reported that RB6H milk has up to 10 times the amount of Insulin Like Growth Factor (IGF-1)

10. The 1998 British Journal of Medicine cancel reports that even small amounts of IGF-1 can lead to breast cancer in women, 7 times more likely.

11. According to the American Cancer Society, the U.S. has the highest rate of cancer in the world. And when you move here from other societies your likelihood of developing cancer increase by fourfold!

12. Soy, corn, artificial colors, preservatives and dyes have been implicated in autism, asthma and ADHD (to name a few) beyond allergies.

13. Kraft and Coca-Cola made different products for over seas markets than products in the U.S. (lunch meats).

14. The South Hampton study in the UK, a double blind study, illustrated how coloring and dyes contribute to hyperactivity in children.

You decide whats healthy for your kids based upon your knowledge: Less junk, more natural from the ground = healthier kids = happier home. It might be uncomfortable at first, but you wont die from uncomfortable. In the end virtue will set us free. Even from unscrupulous companies who seek profits over integrity.
