Dr. MT Morter Jr., past president of two Chiropractic Colleges and founder/developer of B.E.S.T. (Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique), for over 30 years has spoken on the importance of alkalizing our body and buffering the ill effects of toxic acids.

Research at the University of San Francisco Department of Medicine by Dr.’s Lynda Frassetto and Anthony Sebastian published in the Journal of Genealogy demonstrated that as we get older our bodies ACCUMULATE ACID WASTES. As these acid wastes accumulate our bodies begin to become over-whelmed in the buffering/detoxification process. Researchers found that “as blood acidity increased there was a corresponding decrease of the alkaline reserve.” The alkaline reserve is the excess vitamins & minerals stored up in our bodies.

What we have found in Morter Health System and B.E.S.T. is when our health choices stray habitually from the original intelligent design, we develop low level toxic acidosis, which must be buffered at the expense of alkaline reserve (vitamins, enzymes, minerals). Researchers coincidentally noted that as we accumulate acid and reduce alkaline reserve, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis and other degenerative diseases occur.

What’s the answer to this dilemma? From a dietary point of view; to decrease acidifying foods (meat, dairy, junk food, refined grain & sugar, etc.) and increase vegetables and fruits! The National Cancer Institute states that increasing fruit/veggies to 8 to 10 servings a day (think Alka Green, Green20 & Trace Minerals) will cut the risk of some cancers by 50%.

The writing is on the wall, which will you choose? Acidifying foods and chronic degenerative disease, or alkalizing foods, exercise and health and vitality?

Call us today to check your pH and begin to take charge!

It’d be great if all the natural produce; fruits, veggies, grains would last forever. Yet they don’t. So we process food to make it stay on the shelf longer. The problem becomes the essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, co factors and micro trace minerals are either gone or present only in part. Then companies attempt to add synthetic supplements into the mix that can never do the job that mother nature intended. Some actually become highly stimulatory, almost to the degree of some drugs. Others create vitamin and mineral imbalances due to the improper ratios.

Ascorbic acid is added for Vitamin C for example. Yet Vitamin C is a complex, and to add only ascorbic acid actually creates imbalances in the body. This can be verified with mind-body testing. B Vitamins and E Complexes which are so important to the nervous, hormonal and cardiovascular systems are almost stripped out of most highly processed foods. Not to mention preservatives, additives and dyes which are documented in creating many symptom complexes in individuals with genetic predispositions (ADD, allergies, behavioral/learning disabilities, etc.)

I get that our lives are busy, and so convenience is important. Yet we don’t have to sacrifice our health and that of our children at the alter of expediency.

Here’s some ideas:

1. Add fruit and veggies at every meal. Don’t like veggies, make a green smoothie or take lots of Alka Green or Green20!

2. Eat more fish. If you don’t like fish, like I do, supplement with Omega 3 supplements.

3. Packs of raw nuts, pre-packed salad bags, greek yogurt, broccoli-slaw and whole grains.

4. Get the whole family involved in shopping: give them items on your list that they can pick out.

5. Make a weekly planner for the upcoming weeks meals and snacks, during the weekend and prepare accordingly.

Did you know that if you fill your plate with these and other vegetables you are filling your internal bank account (alkaline reserve) with countless riches (vitamins, minerals, co-factors, enzymes, etc) for future usage?

Cabbage: 1 cup has 96% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin K (clotting) and 50% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin C

Carrots: Beta Carotene – research suggests beta carotene protects against cancer, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.

Tomatoes: Cycopene – may protect against cancer development as well as containing vitamins A, C, K, and other key nutrients.

Mint: Contains an essential oil that is stress reducing, clears the sinus, and his high in vitamins A, C, and essential minerals.

Cauliflower: May protect against cancer development and contains anti-inflammatory compounds such as sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol.

Cucumbers: Great source of potassium, naturally calming to the sympathetic nervous system, intracellular electrolyte that balances sodium, muscle relaxer, and high in antioxidants (60 diseases are known to be from free radical damage). High in fiber – colon health!

Bell Peppers: Powerhouse of vitamins A, C, E, K, Bx and antioxidants just to begin with!

Peas: Packed with vitamins K, C, B, Manganese, Fiber, and a great non-meat source of protein.

Barley Green Sprouts: Too large to list, a must daily!

Trace Minerals: What your body craves and is not largely present in our soil.
